Pentonville Studios is a characterful creative space set within a converted railway arch in East London. Designed as a working home for artists, photographers, filmmakers, and interdisciplinary creators, the studio blends photography, art production, experimental film, fashion, portraiture, and playful image-making under one roof.
The ethos is simple: openness, collaboration, and the courage to explore. What happens here reflects the people within it. Curious. Expressive. Inventive.
A Creative Hub Rooted in Community
Pentonville Studios exists to bring artists together. It's a place where filmmakers borrow lenses from photographers, musicians drop in on portrait sessions, stylists collaborate with writers, and ideas flow between disciplines that aren't supposed to touch, but do.
At the heart of the space are six resident visual artists, each with a permanent presence in the studio. Their daily practice shapes the energy of the arch, anchoring a wider community of creatives who come through the doors: artists, musicians, writers, socialites, and underground personalities whose paths cross, combine, and collide. This constellation of voices gives Pentonville its reputation as one of the area's most distinctive creative hubs.
What matters here isn't perfection. It's exploration. It's the freedom to try things, break things, rebuild things, and discover something unexpected.
Resident Studio Membership
For a small group of committed visual artists, Pentonville Studios offers a residency-style membership built around long-term creative growth.
Each residency includes:
A permanent desk within the studio
A large private equipment / kit storage cupboard
4 studio shoot days per month for personal work
A place within a supportive, interdisciplinary community
Only six spots exist at any time, allowing residents to work closely, share ideas, and shape the cultural life of the space. Your daily creative home, a place to return to, build from, and grow within.

The studio is fully equipped for photography, film, and mixed-media work, with trusted lighting partners and an adaptable in-house kit list. Everything is arranged to support experimentation - whether you're building sets, testing ideas, or shooting highly polished work.

Fresh, seasonal food keeps the creative energy flowing. Our kitchen offers vibrant catering for studio days, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and organic produce delivered weekly. Alongside lighter, seasonal dishes, we also serve the kind of comforting favourites that fuel long sessions and breakthroughs after a long day on set.
